Home Remodel

Pack River Lodge

Luxurious Log Home

The Pack River Lodge Addition is a whole-home transformation that brings together expanded living spaces, new architectural details, and a refreshed exterior while preserving the character of the original home. Designed by North Root Architecture, interior designed my Base Camp Design and brought to life by Mountain View Construction, the project combines a substantial structural addition with a complete interior and exterior renovation.

Rather than simply adding square footage, the design reimagines how the home connects its spaces, bringing more natural light, larger gathering areas, improved flow, and carefully considered connections to the outdoors.

At the heart of the renovation is a dramatic new great room and dining space. The expansive room features a vaulted ceiling with exposed timber framing, a double-sided masonry fireplace, and large areas of glass that bring the surrounding landscape into the home.

The kitchen was reimagined as another central gathering space, with a large island, walk-in pantry, and adjoining breakfast nook. Direct access to the west deck creates an easy transition between the kitchen and outdoor living areas.

Additional spaces throughout the main level—including a library, craft room, piano room, laundry, and thoughtfully redesigned circulation areas—give the home a sense of flexibility while providing dedicated spaces for the activities of everyday life.

The second floor was redesigned to create a more comfortable and private retreat for the home's occupants.

The primary suite features a vaulted bedroom, generous walk-in closet, and dedicated bath with a soaking tub, walk-in shower, and dual vanity. Additional bedrooms and a private office provide space for family, guests, and working from home.

The result is a second level that feels distinctly connected to the rest of the home while offering a quieter sense of separation.

The transformation continues beyond the interior. The exterior was redesigned with a combination of stained cedar siding, stone accents, timber and log elements, and carefully detailed metalwork.

New standing-seam metal roofing provides a durable finish suited to North Idaho's changing seasons, while upgraded insulation and high-performance windows improve the home's comfort and efficiency.

Large fixed and casement windows, including distinctive trapezoid windows within the great room, bring additional natural light into the redesigned spaces. New exterior doors and expanded deck areas further strengthen the connection between the home and its surroundings.
